Senior AWS Application Modernization Consultant

We are seeking a Senior AWS Application Modernization Consultant to lead a focused assessment of an enterprise application environment, with particular emphasis on Oracle migration, cloud resiliency, disaster recovery, and modernization opportunities.

This consultant will evaluate the current architecture, identify risks and dependencies, develop a target-state AWS architecture, and provide a practical migration and resiliency roadmap. The ideal candidate combines strong AWS architecture expertise with hands-on experience across containers, databases, event-streaming platforms, and disaster recovery.

• Assess the client’s current application, infrastructure, database, integration, and resiliency architecture.
• Evaluate the existing Oracle environment and identify viable AWS migration and modernization paths.
• Identify architectural risks, operational dependencies, performance considerations, and potential migration blockers.
• Evaluate workload availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery requirements.
• Design a secure, scalable, and resilient target-state architecture on AWS.
• Develop recommendations for AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery and broader business continuity capabilities.
• Assess opportunities to modernize applications using containers and Amazon EKS.
• Evaluate dependencies involving Apache Kafka, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
• Define appropriate migration patterns, sequencing, and workload transition considerations.
• Facilitate technical discovery sessions with customer architects, engineers, application owners, and business stakeholders.
• Document current-state findings, architectural gaps, and recommended remediation activities.
• Produce an actionable migration and modernization roadmap, including priorities, dependencies, risks, and next steps.
• Present recommendations and technical findings to customer and executive stakeholders.
• Collaborate with AWS Professional Services and partner delivery teams throughout the engagement.

• AWS Professional-level or Specialty certification.
• Experience delivering projects through AWS Professional Services or an AWS consulting partner.
• Experience working with healthcare technology organizations or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with AWS migration and modernization programs, tools, and best practices.
• Experience developing cloud migration business cases, effort estimates, and phased transformation plans.
• Recognized subject-matter expertise in application modernization.

• Extensive experience designing and modernizing enterprise applications on AWS.
• Strong application and cloud architecture background.
• Demonstrated experience assessing or executing Oracle migrations to AWS.
• Advanced experience with Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
• Expert-level understanding of AWS disaster recovery and resiliency architectures.
• Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and recoverable cloud environments.
• Advanced experience with Apache Kafka or comparable event-streaming platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, migration, and operations.
• Working experience with MongoDB environments.
• Strong understanding of containerization, DevOps practices, and modern deployment patterns.
• Experience conducting technical assessments and translating findings into practical implementation roadmaps.
• Strong client-facing communication, workshop facilitation, documentation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide senior-level technical leadership within a compressed engagement timeline.
